Mads Mirassou


Mads grew up gardening with their mother in the Bay Area of California. Throughout their childhood and adolescence, Mads found comfort and awe in the various natural environments they found themselves in. In their teens, Mads was homeschooled and traveled the country in a converted transit bus with their family. After moving to Asheville in 2014, Mads earned an Associate of Science from AB-Tech while interning at OGS. In 2021, Maddie began their studies at Warren Wilson College, pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Agriculture. Mads’ primary passion lies at the intersection of science, farming, and social justice. They currently co-own a small business, run a 2-acre homestead, and enjoy the company of their daughter and life partner in Old Fort, NC. Mads joined the board in December 2023.
